Joog: The term juke, as in Juke Joint or Juke Box, is believed to derive from the Gullah word joog, meaning rowdy or disorderly. Carolann Ames takes us down Laurel Canyon Road
This week we received the latest from Carolann Ames (Laurel Canyon Road) and probably like many of you, wasn't very familiar with the artist. After a few listens it quickly becomes evident that she was sweet vocals plus very polished backing musicians. Love the fiddle, particularly in "Back to Santa Rosa"; the bluegrass sound of "Sugar Creek"; and its so true that "Everybody's Somebody in a Honky Tonk". The CD won't be released until January 2012 - but keep an eye out for this one. One month earlier and it would have been a perfect stocking stuffer.
