Jammin’ Java Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary with the "X Pass"

10 years.. Wow, can't believe we've been heading down the street to Jammin' Java that long to watch some of the best live music in the D.C. area. Six months after they opened, we moved close by, and it seems at least once a week, I find myself in the coffee shop. Some of these shows can be revisited here. Starting October 1st, I plan to spend even more time as the venue celebrates its 10th aniiversay by offering the X Pass, a $100 month-long pass to all shows scheduled that month. The schedule is more than enticing. Check out the press release and schedule below:

In October 2001, three brothers from New Jersey, Daniel, Jonathan and Luke Brindley, bought a fledgling coffee and music café in a strip mall in Vienna, VA. In October 2011, the Brindley brothers celebrate the 10th anniversary of Jammin’ Java which has now been named one of D.C.’s best music venues by Washington City Paper and annually one of Pollstar music business magazine’s Top 100 Clubs in the world.

Over the last ten years, the 200-seat Jammin’ Java has produced close to 7,000 concerts and events,
an average of more than one a day. They have featured new superstars Nick Jonas, Citizen Cope,
Paramore and Butch Walker, indie-darlings such as Ingrid Michaelson and Bon Iver, long time
favorites like Leon Russell and original Beatles drummer Pete Best, and local stars like Eddie from
Ohio and Bill Kirchen & Too Much Fun. In addition to concerts every evening, Jammin’ Java
presents daily performances of Tot Rock, a music series for children and families. Additionally, the
music club and café has spawned offshoots including the Music School at Jammin’ Java, Go Team!
Music Artist Management and the newly minted Go Team! Records.

Since 2001, Jammin’ Java has welcomed changes including a full dinner menu and full bar, a new
sound system, and renovations to expand the concert area to accommodate both standing and
seated crowds. Most notably, their lineup of artists has become one of the most eclectic in the
nation. Once known for coffeehouse singer-songwriters, Jammin’ Java has been transformed into a
haven for a dizzying range of genres from rock, folk, Americana and pop, to hip hop and dubstep
DJs. Washingtonpost.com calls Jammin’ Java “a great listening club: small, cozy, with a sterling
sound system.”

Owner Daniel Brindley shares, “I am humbled and amazed at what Jammin’ Java has become over
the last 10 years. We are proud to have become a home base for some of the biggest traveling
bands in the country, a breeding ground for up-and-coming bands to make their DC-area debuts, as
well as a gathering place for parents to bring their children for music experiences. As we celebrate
our 10th anniversary, we want to thank everyone who has been a part of it.”
With its anniversary this October, Jammin’ Java will pay tribute to their faithful patrons, artists and
community by offering a month-long pass that will provide access to any show during the
anniversary celebration for a low, one-time fee. This pass, aptly named the “X Pass,” will allow
patrons who purchase it unlimited entry to all shows scheduled at the venue during the October
anniversary month. In addition, pass holders will have access to reserved seating, be given a
commemorative t-shirt, as well as an individualized laminate pass!
