Joog: The term juke, as in Juke Joint or Juke Box, is believed to derive from the Gullah word joog, meaning rowdy or disorderly. Album Review: Jann Klose - Mosaic
For a few years now we've been following the career of German born Jann Klose, primarily because he's one of the few contemporary pop artists I enjoy. First, he doesn't just strum and croon; but plays a solid guitar and sings interesting original songs. The first track of his latest CD, Mosaic, showcases this talent. Make it Better is an optimistic take on the future - with an upbeat rhythm. On and On showcases his vocal range (as does the a cappella Song of the Siren) and Still is perhaps the one track that will remain on your iPod months from now. My favorite - or maybe its The Kite. His backing band also makes this CD worth listening - The Edukators (Chris Marolf, Rob Mitzner,Patrick Carmichael, & Lars Potteiger) can play. And is that some bluegrass in Beautiful One. Nice....
