B-Sides and Confessions, Volume Two, features special appearances by music legends Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Matraca Berg and Gretchen Peters, and with these friends lending their musical support, Black has created another remarkable collection of roots-driven, moving and cinematic songs. Recorded at Black’s Arcana Studios and mixed by Dave Sinko, known for his work with Punch Brothers, The Bee Eaters and legend Don Williams, B-Sides and Confessions, Volume Two resonates with Black’s celebrated and personal style of matching verse and melody with portrait and tone.
Jeff Black has been a collaborator with some of music’s most credible names, including Waylon Jennings, Dierks Bentley, Sam Bush, Alison Krauss, Iris Dement and more. Black’s song “Frozen Fields” - co-written with Jon Randall Stewart - was featured on both last year’s GRAMMY award-winning album Paper Airplane by Alison Krauss & Union Station, as well as Jerry Douglas’ album Traveler, released in 2012.

- and I appreciate this composition more every time I listen to it. Its a collection of contemporary songs written or arranged by Bush as well as a few oldies - some made famous by Bill Monroe. As many already know, Sam Bush is a Grammy Award winning artist and last year received an Americana Music Association (AMA) Lifetime Achievement Award. His supporting band is also outstanding: Scott Vestal, Stephen Mougin, Byron House and Chris Brown. If that wasn't enough the CD includes guest appearances by several well known artists: Del McCoury, Edgar Meyer, Jerry Douglas. It even includes an old recording, "Apple Blossom", between Bush and New Grass Revival co-founder Courtney Johnson, who sadly passed away over 20 years ago.
. This CD showed Grider's roots - alt country Texas music. "Crazy Like You" got most of the publicity - but there were other worthy songs on that CD as well. Now, Grider has expanded into the Josh Grider Trio by adding Chris Grady on the upright bass and Jeff Botta on percussion. He is also trying to expand his fan base by venturing into a more contemporary sound..
For all those Sam Bush fans out there, including us, the artist is releasing his latest solo CD Circles Around Me on Sugar Hill Records on October 20th. For those unaware of Bush's accomplishments, he was a founding member of pioneering band New Grass Revival, winner of three Grammy Awards, and recently received an Americana Music Association (AMA) Lifetime Achievement Award. We've personally seen him on stage at various festivals and no one can handle the mandolin quite like Bush.
